Looking back at my previous posts in the Gym on Friday, I realised something. The benches there can really take a lot of weight. Oh, and I also saw that I had a severe shortage of Blog Posts for my CAS Activity.
So, I decided that I’d write a long(ish) blog post talking about what I’ve been doing for my CAS Activity for the past few months.
First off my main focus for my Activity has been Badminton, more specifically, smashes. While I consider myself decent at being able to chase after the shuttlecock, smashing has always been a tricky thing for me. The main goal I set for myself was to be able to be able to smash consecutively at least 15 times. Last term, whenever I got the chance, I chose badminton as my choice for PE. By the end, I was only able to achieve 10 smashes in succession. Over the summer, I didn’t have access to a Badminton Court, so I used a wall and my Sister as a substitute.
Although I wasn’t able to practice during my trip to the UK, when I got back, I quickly got myself back into my routine (much to the dismay of my sister). By the 3rd week before the summer holiday ended, I was finally able to achieve my goal of 15 smashes thanks to the support (and equal amounts of classy banter) from my sister.
I’ve also tried some new and interesting activities like Kayaking over the year as well. You can read about that here. I also managed to dig up some of the pictures from Kayaking.
So, I’ve talked about what I’ve done. What am I planning to do next? Well, I didn’t have a particular goal in mind until last Friday. After hearing that there will be house competitions for each sport, I realised that this would be my chance to put me to the test. My main focus is still Badminton, but my current goal is to be able to compete against the two strongest badminton players in my year, Joshua and Wilson. Thankfully, they’re in different houses to me, so all I need to focus on is being able to get to them. To do this, I’ve begun to add more training and exercise to my daily routine. I’ve planned that I will need to jog at least once every two days in order to improve my endurance and stamina and I will also need to find a court so that I will be able to practice with others as well so I signed up for the Badminton activity, which seemed liked my best bet at that.
Besides that, if my schedule allows, I plan on trying out for the Badminton SEASAC Team as well!
