Beautiful Sunrise
Soon did rain fall on us all
Spoiled moods and such

 – Lido Lakes 27 – 29 September 2017 –

It’s been a while since I last went on a residential (I think Year 9 so 2014) due to the fact that our Year 10 residential was overrun by our Bronze International Award expedition and we didn’t have one last year. All in all it was a pretty refreshing experience other than the fact that some of us have been at Lido Lakes before and the chance to explore some place for the first time wasn’t taken. Activities were fun and delivered well and food wasn’t half bad. One thing I know I’m not amazing at high rope activities but with some new-found confidence from doing TreeTops in Bandung back in August, I plodded forward with the activities whilst having fun. One other challenge I noticed was compromising as during the raft building activity, many of us had differing blueprints for how the raft was going to constructed. Eventually we took a bit of everyone’s ideas and we won against Mr Rendle and his team of rabble with the most glorious SS GLOVE.

Things I enjoyed:

  • Getting to do things we don’t normally get to do on a daily basis (eg. Paintball and Raft Building)
  • Having Fun
  • Eating
  • Sleeping
  • Making a fool of myself
  • ???
  • Honestly the first point sums it all up. The residential was a great way to push ourselves (in some way or rather) and be away from home for a two evenings.

Things I learnt:

  • Sit at the centre, back of the bus during trips for extra leg room
  • Get on the good side of Mr Rendle during trips
  • Room with people who are easily tired and don’t stay up for hours on end (COUGH COUGH)
  • Bring more SnAcKs

Till next time,
– Rob
